Housing Guides
EAC produces a number of Guides, all of which draw on our Housing Options database of UK sheltered and retirement housing for older people. The database includes information on 25,700 schemes /developments – almost all that have ever been built, whether for rent or purchase. Extra care, assisted living and close care environments are included, as well as retirement villages, Abbeyfield houses and almshouses.
Guides are colour laser printed and comb bound to order, and contain expanatory pages followed by descriptions of individual housing developments.
Guide to Extra Care Retirement Housing in England 2008
This comprehensive Guide presents information on 950 retirement housing developments in which additional care services are available to help frailer residents maintain their independence at home. Whilst there is at present no clear definition of extra care housing, our Guide includes all the schemes we know of that broadly fit the bill, including housing with care, very sheltered housing, assisted living and close care schemes. The Guide to Extra Care Housing runs to 250 pages and costs just £50.

Regional Directories of Private Retirement Housing
This regularly updated series now contains detailed information on all the 3,700 private developments we know of - well established ones as well as new ones where first-time sales are available. Alongside traditional retirement developments, they include retirement villages, extra care and assisted living schemes. The Guides cost between £15 and £40.

County Guides to Sheltered & Retirement Housing
This established series includes individual Guides for each English County, and national Guides for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. All titles in the series include both rented and private retirement housing - the rented sector including local authority, housing association, Abbeyfield Societies and almshouse charities - to offer a comprehensive picture of all housing for older people your area.
County Guides cost between £15 and £50 each, and the national ones between £20 and £50.
